I find the idea of a war between vampires and fae interesting (and I'll definitely have to check out the other games in this universe to get the whole scope of it).
However, even without playing the other VNs, this one still gave a lot of good details and the atmosphere was excellent!
||Small Spoilers||
Both of the endings were very fitting. Whether we had Ashley trust Blaec and whether she felt negatively or positively about The Vulture was a fantastic way to set things in motion.
Him taking her life if she felt negatively towards The Vulture and said cruel things, or him saving her if she wished that he was there to help bring the war to an end was very in line for a deity. It was also a nice touch that in the ending where he took her life, she begged for help. But when he saved her, she had already given up.
It was honestly a beautiful and very melancholy story. I look forward to seeing the rest of the Royal Duality universe sometime, and I hope we get a chance to see more of Blaec in the future as well!
Thank you so much for your review! It's really nice to see your comments and really motivates us. You've raised some smiles today :)
The good news is that Blaec not only features in a couple of our completed games (Roses in the Thorns in particular), but he will have a very significant role in 2 of our titles that are currently in production! :)
Looking forward to watching as soon as possible. Thank you once again and have a lovely day.
I'm so happy it brought a smile to your faces ^-^
I look forward to seeing his role in the other games he appears in, whether big or small! He's a very intriguing character
(I'm also excited to see Ashley in Roses in the Thorns when I eventually play it, since I see that she's a main character as well.)
Keep up the good work, and I hope that production on the other titles you are working on is going smoothly.
This game was so fun! Chilling, haunting, and intriguing, as well. It was incredibly atmospheric - I loved the use of the wind ambience and the snow softly falling in the foreground, which really contributed to the atmosphere. I also really liked the design of the text box - it almost looks like a mound of piled snow, or a pile of ash. It's fitting and contrasts well with the white of the background!
The writing is fantastic, in the prose and worldbuilding. The prose is poetic and a bit haunting, a really good match for the snowy landscape. And even though the game is very short (as an O2A2 project) - I am so impressed with how much was covered - the conflict between the Fae and the vampires, the background behind the Vulture himself, the conflicting attitudes towards his disappearance...
SPOILERS
The two endings were very appropriate, and I found it ironic that - in the ending where Ashley begs for the Vulture's aid, he refuses to give it, taking her life instead - and in the ending where she accepts her death, the Vulture actually saves her life.
The ending CG is SO GORGEOUS, it's absolutely LOVELY! The lighting, the composition, the Vulture's expression...everything about it is simply BEAUTIFUL (and I was not expecting it for the "bad" ending!
I really enjoyed this!! Really great job, Hyaku and Ten :)
Thanks so much for the feedback Chattercap! It was so nice to receive such a lovely comment! We really enjoyed the limited assets for the jam and felt it made us concentrate on the intent of the story and graphics even more than usual.
Really appreciate your comments.
The art is so beautiful. I like the sfx and interface too. Although this is short, I am agree with previous comment that I want to see more, about the deity and may they really meet again? Looking forward to the extented project!
Thank you so much for the comment Yubirutake, we really appreciate it. You will definitely be seeing more of the Vulture Deity in the future.

We're so grateful for your review! We hope you enjoy the world of the Vulture and maybe....come again soon? π
Great lil' story. Would love to see it expanded upon in the future, feels like there's a lot of potential here! :D You all did very good!! <3
Thank you so much Tymedust! There's plenty more coming, we're just devving now. We pick up one story thread and 10 take it's place. It's great. ποΈπποΈ
Really appreciate the comment π
Told you I found this interesting and it didn't disappoint! I'd like to see more about the lore of the game, consider expanding it once the JAM is over
Thanks Banya! We really appreciate the feedback. We have exciting plans in the works to expand on the lore, more details coming soon π
I love that this goes a way darker direction than I initially expected (at least with the choices I made). A war between vampires and fae is a very cool story idea! And I also liked the snowfall effects.
Hi G.C. Katz. Thank you for your kind comments, we really appreciate you taking the time to play the game! We hope we can tell the story of the vampire and fae war in a future release.
Thanks again βΊοΈ
So atmospheric! The descriptions of the cold taking over Ashely were incredible, they truly conveyed frozen dread, and I liked how distinctive the endings were.
A fantastic game βοΈ
Thank you so much! We really appreciate you taking the time to play the game π«Ά
Hope you can warm up and get cosy now! π₯Ή
Oh gosh I felt so cold the entire time I was playing this lsakdjfalkds Love love LOVE the unnerving blizzard ambience sound -- together with the gorgeous BG and the falling snow, it almost made me feel like I could feel the wind and snow. Absolutely beautiful!
Also the feeling of isolation it gave! When Ashley is walking through the snow all alone at the beginning it gave me this intense feeling of hopelessness and loneliness. And then when the mysterious figure appeared, though I was at first thankful to have someone there to break up the feeling of lonely dread, I was also just as cautious as Ashley because certainly this person doesn't look like they should be wandering about in the snowy wilderness!! π€£
I chose to wish that the Vulture were still here for my first playthrough and got the "good" ending where Ashley wakes up in the cave, which was rather comforting. I love the twist that this person is indeed the Vulture. BUT SO MUCH LORE??? Like there's literally so much going on here and I'm only scratching the surface of it through this little snapshot and it makes me want to know so much more! About the war and the vampires and the Vulture and everything that's going on! It was really great how you were able to weave together this story that's both satisfying but also leaves us with so many questions and wanting to dive deeper into the story and world.
Then I went back and chose the other option and GOSH ALDSKJFALSDKFA WHAT A GORGEOUS CG?????? Even though it's the "bad" end it left such a strong impact on me afterwards, that image of him with those spread wings... laksdjflakdsf just so gorgeous!!
Overall this was just absolutely lovedly and I really enjoyed it! Now I need to go warm up lkdsajflakds π€£π
Ahhhh thank you so much Carrot! Such a lovely review to read, we really appreciate it. It was our first O2A2, so we were a little anxious about how it would be received! Your review really made our day.
We wanted to create an entry that links vaguely with some of our other games but also worked as a standalone, so we're delighted that it was understandable and enjoyable to play <3
Our vulture is name-dropped a lot in other games but we really wanted him to spread his wings...we're hoping to tell his story with the Fae in a future title (if all goes to plan).
Please take care, grab a warm beverage of your time and snuggle up safely :)
